Couple of questions.

Recommended Posts

Is there such a thing (perhaps the visually impaired have?) as an audible alarm you plug into a socket., loud enough to wake you if your electric fails?

Is it possible to have the rubber seal around a washing machine door replaced once it has perished? Would a bike puncture repair kit work on a hole in it?

Thank you :D

I'd imagine an alarm could be set up quite easy in the event of a power cut. I know of someplace where a generator kicks in when there is a power loss.

I wouldn't have thought that the bike repair kit would be waterproof, but its worth a try before you get somebody out.

I dont think i've helped at all there Moll.............sorry... :D

I know you can definitely get your rubber seal replaced, and here's an alarm for power failure - http://www.ebay.co.uk/itm/NEW-POWER-OUT-Power-Failure-Warning-Alarm-Flashlight-/350149838020?pt=LH_DefaultDomain_0&hash=item51868e84c4

Rob, i looked into those, all reviews slated the decibels, said they are not as loud as advertised, not loud enough to wake you up

The electric here is rather fragile Rob, goes off with wind, heavy rain, snow, or just cos it feels like it :icon_eek:

I have incubators and electric hens on the go, the last lot of eggs perished due to the power going off through the night, it does happen quite a bit like i say but the last time it must have gone off not long after going to bed and eggs were stone cold in the morning. If it had been the colder weather the chicks under the leccy hen would possibly have perished also.

I had a back up battery several years ago for the PC, when the leccy went out it used to give off a loud alarm, have tried looking for one on the PC, but cannot find any with the alarm description? So something like that, it does not need to be specifically for the job needed (if you get my drift?) just as long as it gives off a loud alarm.

sounds daft, but our baby monitor bleeps loudly if the camera goes off.....the monitor itself plugs into the mains but has a battery back up, the camera doesn't have a back up, so if the power went off the camera would go off and the monitor would bleep to wake you up. If you could find a cheap one of these it would do the job and you definitely wouldn't sleep through that  .

Not daft at all Rob, exactly the kind of thing i am on about....something not designed for the job, but does it anyway.

Although i do not have the foggiest what you are on about..camera, monitor ?? Does the baby monitor have a camera on it?
